Questions and answers

What clubs most often ask us before they commission us.

What does it cost, and what is included?

You receive a written proposal with a fixed price per event for the services you choose. Anything not included is stated explicitly. We only provide extra services with your approval and with the price agreed in advance.

It's not in our budget. When should we enquire?

In many clubs the general meeting approves the budget. If you are bidding for an International German Championship, you apply to the DSV (German Sailing Federation) by 31 October of the previous year. For drone flights over federal waterways, the permit takes several weeks. An early proposal can go into your planning.

We could stream it ourselves. Why REACH?

You can stream yourselves. What matters is people, not technology: whoever is filming and taking photos is not free for other jobs on race day. We bring the team and the perspectives from the water and work with your media team.

Will you push our media team aside?

No. Your media team stays in charge of your channels. Whether we post directly on your channels or your team approves is up to you. We agree social media with them in advance.

Is there even a mobile signal on the water? And what if it fails?

Before every livestream we test connectivity and continuous operation on site. If the signal on the water is too weak, the affected cameras drop out while the cameras ashore keep transmitting. If streaming is not possible at all, the control room records and you receive a summary of the day. Booked photos are then transferred once we are back ashore.

Will your boats and drones disturb the races?

We agree positions, drone zones and procedures with your race committee before the event. On the water they have the final say, including over the coach boat and the drone. We only do interviews between races.

What if the drone is not allowed to fly?

Aerial footage only where the venue allows it and the permit is in place. Otherwise we show footage from the water and from shore.

Do you commentate on the races?

We integrate your commentators into the broadcast technically. Commentary by us is not included.

What about data protection, image rights and children?

We clarify this before the event, using our templates: privacy notice, consent modules for adults and minors, media clause and a joint controllership agreement. For youth regattas we agree the livestream with you separately in advance. Our templates are drafts, not legal advice.

Can we use the material long term, including for sponsors?

What you may use the material for, including for sponsors, is set out in your proposal. Paid advertising and resale are agreed separately.

What happens if weather cancels racing?

If races are postponed or cancelled because of wind, weather or race committee decisions, the fee stands as long as the team and equipment are ready; we deliver whatever is possible. If you cancel the event, the sliding cancellation scale in your proposal applies.

Who actually watches this?

Participants, their families, your members and your sponsors. After the event you can see in your channels' analytics what actually happened, and the material stays available for your channels.

You're new. Where are your references?

The team has already produced photo and video work under NIMANET, the agency of Niklas Mattes, including event photography at a 49er European Championship and video at Tempest training on Lake Garda. Livestream is our newest service.

Sponsorship creates tax work for us. Can you help?

We don't give tax advice. Whether sponsorship services affect your club's commercial operations for tax purposes is a question for your tax adviser. We provide a clear invoice with the service itemised per line.
