The short answer
Fixed prices for media at sailing regattas are rarely published in Germany. What you can find are day rates for camera and photo work and package prices from providers working on land: according to one provider's site, livestream packages for events start at 2,500 euros per day; one provider lists an aftermovie from 1,200 euros net. On the water, boats, connectivity, drone and weather risk come on top. The price is driven mainly by race days, perspectives and crew.
What drives the cost
| Driver | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Race days | Each day ties up the whole team, even with postponements or no wind. |
| Courses | A second course often means a second team or a deliberate choice. |
| Cameras and perspectives | Each perspective (shore, boat, drone, cameras on the racing boats) needs kit and usually a person. |
| Boats | Pictures from the water need a camera boat with a driver; if the club provides it, costs go down. |
| Drone | Pilot, aircraft, insurance and, depending on the venue, a permit. |
| Connectivity | A livestream needs wired internet ashore and mobile data on the water. |
| Crew | Production, camera, photo, editing, social media: day rates are the largest item. |
| Travel | Travel, accommodation and transport of kit depending on the venue. |
| Editing | Aftermovie, clips and reels are made after the shoot, often over several days. |
| Rights | How long and for what the club and sponsors may use the material affects the price. |
What is published: market figures with sources
The figures come from public price lists, association figures and trade articles, accessed on 1 October 2026 (sources in German). None of them is specific to sailing; production on the water is not included anywhere. Net or gross is stated only where the source says so.

For sailing regattas, add what none of these lists include: a camera boat with a driver, mobile data on the water, a drone permit and the risk that wind or the race committee change the plan.
And at REACH?
We work with a fixed price per event for the services you choose; photos, social media and video can be booked without a livestream. How a proposal is structured is explained under Pricing and contract.
How your club can save
- Ask early. A proposal before budget planning can be included, and travel and crew can be bundled more easily.
- Choose the right services. Same-day photos and social media need less kit than a livestream.
- Show one course. With several courses, choose one rather than adding a second team.
- Provide what you have. Camera boat with a driver, power, wired internet at the gallery spot.
- Involve sponsors. Visibility in the stream or pictures is a benefit in return; clubs account for sponsorship in their commercial activities (ehrenamt24).
- Bundle events. A season or several regattas at the same venue reduce travel and set-up costs.
- Budget gross. Non-profit clubs often cannot reclaim VAT; your tax adviser can confirm.
Checklist before you ask for a proposal
- Event and date Name, race days, reserve days.
- Venue and courses How many courses, where is the harbour?
- Services Photos, social media, video, livestream: what matters to you?
- What you provide Camera boat with a driver, power, wired internet.
- Drone Flight zones with the race committee, permit depending on the venue.
- Rights and consent Media clause in the notice of race.
- Budget and budget deadline When does the decision have to be made?
- Sponsors Who should be visible in the pictures?
